Your Book Bag August 20, 2008

Look for great deals when choosing school supplies! First, find a great book bag:

Next, find some awesome binders:

Avery Easy Access Binder, $4.

ACCO Presstex Coated Round 3-Ring Binder, $3.

Take a look at your binders. Are they patterened? Put your name on the inside cover with matching colors. Plain fronts? Decorate them with Sharpies, stickers, colored duct tape, etc. Do they have a plastic cover? Decorate a piece of paper and slide it in!

Then find a nice pencil pouch or case:

A Girl’s Guide to Wearing Kid Sizes August 18, 2008

Yes, some people can still wear kids sizes. And if done right, you can still look stylish and age-appropriate. Here are some things to do:

LOOK FOR:

• Older girls clothing, normally sizes 10-14.
• Styles similar to those in the juniors’ section.
• Designs such as hearts, stars, and flowers.
• Fitted jeans with zippers and buttons.
• V-necks and plain camis.

AVOID:

• Large fake rhinestones and logos from brands that do not make juniors’ sizes.
• Characters such as the Bratz, Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers, and High School Musical. (Things like Looney Tunes and Mickey Mouse are okay in certain situations. Use good judgment.)
• Non-fitted shirts aside from babydolls.
• Stupid sayings like “Princess”, “Lip gloss”, “My dog ate my homework”, etc.
• Elastic waistband bottoms.

EXAMPLES:

This shirt is a good example of what to get. L.e.i. also makes junior sizes, so the logo is not a problem, and the style is similar to those in juniors.

This is the type of shirt you do not want to get. Hannah Montana, metallics, and the ruffles together make it seem too young.

Girls, when shopping in the kids section, use good judgment. Always ask yourself if it’s too young. You may want to bring along a parent or friend who also shops in kids for help. Two opinions are always better than one.
